Lot 67 Colt Service Model Ace .22 LR #SM6515
WW2 Guy H. Drewry inspected U.S. Military issued Colt Service Model Ace. Less than 12,000 of these pistols were produced for the military between 1936 and 1945. Has the features of the M1911A1, parkerized finish, manual and grip safeties, slide stop, push button magazine release. Manufactured in 1945, SM3725-SM13803 (End of Production). Not long in production after Colt swapped from using a blue finish to a parkerized finish on Ace Service Model pistols starting as serial number "SM3844", with this example being "SM6515". Features fixed blade front and adjustable notch rear sights, two-line Colt address and patent numbers followed with a Rampant Colt roll-marked on the left side of the slide, the model and caliber designations along with the "ACE" marking on the right side of the slide, Guy H. Drewry's "G.H.D." inspector initials stamped on the left side of the frame with the U.S. property marking, "crossed cannons" ordnance acceptance stamp, and "S M" prefix serial number on the right side, and Colt factory "X" over "triangle/VP" proofs on the left side of the trigger guard with "77" on the right side. Fitted with a pair of checkered Colt wood plastic grips and a blued magazine marked "COLT/22L.R./SERVICE MODEL" on the base. The bore is excellent/bright with strong rifling, slide action is smooth, grips are excellent with no chips or cracks and the checkering is sharp,the parkerized finish is about 97% with minor edge/friction wear and a couple of very minor scratches. The blued magazine is excellent with minor friction wear. All markings are crisp/clear. Rare to find one in this condition.
