.44-40 Caliber. SN: 78258. Model 1873 Deluxe Sporting Rifle, Wild West Exhibition Shooters Tribute Rifle. Uberti built the rifle in 1998 and A&A Engraving in Rapid City, S.D. did the engraving. The rifle was authorized by America Remembers. Number 179 out of the limited edition of 300. The left side of the receiver features portraits of Annie Oakley and Johnny Baker, as well as a scene of Buffalo Bill on his horse and Annie Oakley performing one of her special skills – firing over her shoulder with the aid of a mirror. Featured above the scene is the name of the Tribute. The right side of the receiver features detailed portraits of Buffalo Bill, Doc Carver, and Capt. A.H. Bogardus. Surrounding each portrait and embellishing the receiver is scrollwork reminiscent of the late 1800’s. The top of the barrel is marked “AHL MECHANICSVILLE VA” and at the receiver with “CAL. 44-40”. The left shoulder of the barrel is marked “A. UBERTI MADE IN ITALY”. The dust cover bar is marked “”AMERICA REMEMBERS” / AHL ASHLAND VA” and the upper tang is marked “MODEL 1873”. The bottom front of the receiver is marked “001 of 300” and the underside of the receiver in front of the lever is marked “CAT. 1583” and “A&A ENGRAVING / RAPID CITY SD”. high polished blue octagon barrel is 24", front post style blade, rear sight is a semi-buckhorn elevator sight. The stocks are two-piece checkered hardwood with a reddish-brown satin finish. The buttstock has a pistol grip with a gold plated crescent buttplate and the forend is held with a gold plated nosecap. The checkering is sharp and without mars. The loading gate, dust cover, lever catch, trigger and screw heads have a bright polished blue finish. The magazine tube cap, nosecap, receiver, lever and lower tang are gold plated. The hammer is case colored. Rifle is in like new condition. Bore is pristine. Comes with a beautiful dark blue felt lined wooden display case with brass hooks and plaque. Plexiglass cover. Case measures 49" X 11 1/2.
