Lot 12 Colt 1860 Army .44 Cal #88875
Union military issued Civil War revolver. Single action cap and ball black powder percussion revolver, manufactured circa 1863. 8" barrel, blade front sight, "V" notch rear sight on hammer nose, 6 shot unfluted rebated cylinder, round brass triggerguard, steel back strap, one piece smooth walnut grip. Bore is fair, good rifling, scattered light pitting throughout. Charge holes show rough texture. Metal surfaces show mottled dark grays and lighter bare metal tones, tiny pits throughout, appears lightly cleaned at some point in the past. Numbers match on frame, barrel, straps and wedge. Faint partial patent date on cylinder, cylinder scene is very faint, mostly gone. Some screws appear to be replacements. Action sound with good lock-up. Grips are overall good, with small chips to the front bottom panels, faint cartouche visible on left panel, good fit to frame. Patent dates on frame are partial, faint, one line barrel address is readable. "D" inspector mark on triggerguard. Nipples have been removed but come with the originals and a set of newer replacements.
