Lot 14SN Texas Mountain Bongo Hunt, Life Size Bronze Bongo and Kenya Conservation & Safari Experience

[b]The Ultimate Mountain Bongo Experience, jointly donated by the 777 Ranch, legendary professional hunter Jeff Rann, and renowned Kenyan wildlife sculptor Murray Grant, invites one hunter and one non-hunter to Texas and Kenya for an extraordinary multi-part adventure that combines a world-class Mountain Bongo hunt, a bespoke bronze artwork, and a deeply meaningful conservation experience. This unprecedented donation unites a world-class Mountain Bongo hunt guided by Jeff Rann, a custom bronze by one of Africa’s most celebrated wildlife sculptors, a conservation partnership contributing directly to a life-size Mountain Bongo project, and an immersive Kenyan safari hosted by the Grants—offering the winning bidder the chance to secure a magnificent trophy, a museum-quality artwork, and a place in the future of one of Africa’s most endangered antelope species. The hunt portion includes a 4-day/3-night Mountain Bongo hunt at the renowned 777 Ranch in Hondo, Texas—home to one of the finest long-managed herds of true Kenyan-lineage bongos in North America, where more than 20 years of selective genetics have produced exceptional trophy-class bulls; the Mountain Bongo, with its deep mahogany coat, bold striping, and massive spiraled horns, is widely considered the most visually stunning and coveted of all spiral-horn antelope. The hunter and observer will enjoy comfortable double-occupancy lodging, chef-prepared meals, non-alcoholic beverages, full skinning services, and the guidance of world-famous PH Jeff Rann, whose decades of African and international hunting experience elevate this opportunity to an elite level; hunt is available for 2026 dates only, and additional species may be added at the hunter’s expense. Not included are airfare, transportation to/from the ranch, Texas hotel tax, additional hunters/observers, taxidermy, meat processing, and gratuities. As part of this extraordinary donation, the 777 Ranch will also gift a custom bronze statue of the hunter’s actual Mountain Bongo, sculpted by acclaimed Kenyan wildlife artist Murray Grant, whose lifelike wildlife bronzes are internationally collected; the tabletop bronze—approximately 28.5" high, 19.7" wide, 30.7" long, and 103 lbs—will be crafted directly from the hunter’s trophy, creating a true heirloom piece. Murray Grant, raised in a family deeply rooted in African wildlife and conservation, has spent over 15 years voluntarily monitoring one of the last remaining wild Mountain Bongo populations in Kenya’s Aberdare Range, providing essential data to the Mountain Bongo Program and the Kenya Wildlife Service, with fewer than 100 individuals estimated to remain. In 2026, Murray will begin sculpting a life-size Mountain Bongo bronze designed to support species revival efforts; the winning bidder’s 777 Ranch trophy will be used as an anatomical reference in creating this limited-edition series of five sculptures, the first of which will be auctioned to raise conservation funding—making the buyer an active contributor to a landmark conservation project supporting the recovery of Kenya’s critically endangered Mountain Bongo. Completing this one-of-a-kind offering, the winning bidder will also enjoy a 6-night Kenya Conservation & Safari Experience, including 4 nights at El Karama Lodge and 2 nights in the Aberdares hosted by Murray and Sophie Grant, with all-inclusive accommodations, field-to-table meals, house drinks, guided walking safaris, day and night game drives, bush meals, a tour of Murray’s art studio, and farm and garden visits, along with full use of lodge amenities; not included are international or domestic flights, charter transfers, spa treatments, off-site excursions, horseback riding, or externally booked lodges. During the Aberdares portion, guests will be given rare, behind-the-scenes access to Mountain Bongo conservation areas, including the last stronghold of wild bongos, creating a powerful personal connection between the hunter’s 777 Ranch trophy and the species’ survival in its native homeland. Arrival/departure point for the hunt is Hondo, Texas; arrival/departure point for the Kenya portion is Nairobi, Kenya.
