New for 2027!
Due to the recent success in passing law allowing for the use of thermal optics for harvesting furbearers under a trapping license, we have decided to offer targeted Wolf and Wolverine hunts for 2027! These hunts will be offered during the months of February and March, targeting Wolves and Wolverine during a time of year that provides prime hide quality coupled with a little bit more daylight. We will be focusing in the same guide use area we operate for our Moose, Sheep, and Caribou hunts in an effort to help control the predators and help out our winter big game herds during crucial time for their calving and lambing success. Located deep in the heart of the Brooks Range, accessed only by ski plane from Fairbanks or Coldfoot, this area has little to no predator hunting pressure! We have never had a hunting season where we didnt see Wolves in the area, however targeting them via snowmachine in the winter allows us to pursue them more effectively and aggressively. Locating winter herds of caribou by airplane and snowmachine allows us to narrow our search and focus in on the Wolves and other predators that follow. Strategy on the hunt is to focus on tracking and calling, as well as sitting overwatch on groups of caribou waiting for the predators to show. We also try and find active predation in the form of fresh kills with active sign and glass them with thermal equipment at night. Accommodations for this hunt can be a combination of cabins and Arctic Oven winter tents with wood stoves depending on where there Wolves are active. Being able to ride a snowmachine is necessary however various skill levels are able to complete this hunt. Typically we will run two sleds, one with the guide and a hunter, one with a second hunter if its a 2 on 1 hunt, or if its a 1 on 1 hunt, we will ride double on one sled. Temps on these hunts can range from 20 below to 30/40 above during the day on March hunts.
Species
Wolf, Wolverine, Lynx, Fox and coyote which are all yours to keep.
Not included in the trip is commercial flights to Fairbanks, charter flight to Coldfoot, license and tag costs, and your personal clothing.
