Edward Cox English 16 ga Side by Side Vintage Hammer Shotgun
There is a RESERVE set on this excellant English Shotgun of only $600
This Edward Cox hammer gun in 16 gauge with browned damascus barrels with
EDWARD COX 62 HIGH ST SOUTHAMPTON etched on the centre rib of the
twin Damascus Steel barrels.
Beautifully balanced gun - very elegant and beautifully engraved.
Proof marks crossed spears with Crown and B, C & V in quadrants indicate The
Birmingham Proof House. Also states Choke a nd 16 in diamond makes this a
manufacture between 1887 and 1904.
Highly engraved side lock plates also bear the Edward Cox name.
Wood is in good condition and has black rubber butt plate. No cracks are evident
but there are quite a few dents and marks which would be found on a gun of this age.
There is some wood loss on one side of the forgrip wood.
Only low power black powder shotgun shells should be used as the Damascus
barrels may not stand to pressure of modern high pressure rounds.
