Mauser M98 Bolt Action Rifle 30-06 Springfield c/w Vintage Tasco Scope
Mauser 98 Custom Bolt Action Rifle chambered 30-06 Sprg
Excellent Condition throughout. Has a vintage steel bodied Tasco 4 power scope
with blade front sight on ramp.
Has an excellant Set Trigger system.
Has Rw E stamped on side of receiver plus some minor engraving lines over other
parts like floor plate and receiver sides..
Rw E stands for Reichswerke Erfurt.. After the end of WW1 the German government
arsenals tried to convert to civilian gunmaking. In early 1919 the Königliche
Gewehrfabrik Erfurt = royal (Prussian) rifle factory Erfurt was renamed Reichswerke
Erfurt. After the Versailles treaty of 1920 it had to stop all gunmaking and was closed
down and dismantled by the allied disarmament comissions.
The eagle is the former German imperial eagle, but without the crown.
Very good condition - Very good bore with clean rifling..
Custom Wood stock is very sound with no cracks - Has nice checkering
Barrel measures 24 inch long and has 30-06 stamp on side ahead of receiver
- Stamping is a little worn. .
Wood stock is good with checkering and cheek weld. Has original steel butt plate.
Does have some minor marks all over wood from age and general use.
Bluing on barrel and metal surfaces is very good - 50% blue finish wear on floor
plate, trigger guard and receiver..
Overall a very good condition rifle.
