At times creating animal?and Orientalist works, Drouout?s sculptures, whether of animals or people, are characterized by a sense of movement and expressive touch.?Born on April 3, 1859 in Sommevoire, France, he went on to study under the popular artist Mathurin Moreau?at the ?cole des Beaux-Arts in Paris, and exhibited at the Paris Salon from 1889 onward. Today, Drouot?s work can be found in the collections of the Courtauld Institute in London and the Indiana University Art Museum in Bloomington, among others. The artist died in 1945 in Paris, France.
