German Kar 98a Mauser Bolt Action Rifle, #5077M, 8x57mm cal., 23.75" barrel, blued finish, hardwood stock and handguard, inverted-"V" front sight with protectors, and adjustable tangent rear sight with "V"-notched groove, graduated to 2000 meters. Stock has no grasping grooves or takedown washer. Top of the receiver ring is marked "(crown)/ERFURT/1918" with a firing proof on the left side, and four crowned inspection stamps on the right side. Left side of the receiver rail is marked "Kar 98". There is a faint inspection stamp on right side of the buttstock. A five pointed star has been stamped into the right side bolt way. Numbers do not match. Import marked on left side of the barrel. Condition overall is good, retaining approx. 30%-35% blue, with most parts showing wear and brown toning, with spots of patina to the rear receiver bridge. Wood has a matte colored appearance, and there is a crack through both sides of the buttstock, behind the wrist; cracks to the front and rear of the handguard. Action operates smoothly. Bright bore rates good, with defined rifling. Est.: $700-$900. (C&R)
