Colt New Service U. S. Army Model 1909 Double Action Revolver, #31214, .45 Colt cal., 5.5" barrel, blue finish, smooth walnut two-piece grips with lanyard ring, blade front and fixed "U"-notch rear sight, with a fire blue hammer and trigger. Marked with "R.A.C." (Rinaldo Carr) proofs at the right rear of the frame and rear of cylinder, "F.B." (Major Frank Baker) at the top right of the frame, "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" on the underside of the barrel. Butt is marked, "U.S. ARMY MODEL 1909". There is a partial "(Rampant Colt)" at the left rear of the frame. Mfgd 1911. Revolver is in very good overall condition, retaining approx. 80%-85% thinning factory finish, with scattered mild surface erosion, general handling marks. Hammer and trigger display muted fire blued finish, brighter on the trigger. Grips are in good condition, showing smoothing of the checkering, with impressions and a couple deeper dents on the left panel. Action functions well and locks up securely. Bore is very good, with light erosion and defined rifling. Est.: $800-$1,000. (C&R/PPT)
