Antique U.S. Springfield Armory Model 1896 Krag Bolt Action Rifle, #83680, .30-40 Krag cal., 30" barrel, blued finish, walnut stock, blade front sight, and M1896 "U"-notched rear sight. The upper half of a MILSCO 1943 dated sling is attached. Receiver is marked "U.S./MODEL 1896 SPRINGFIELD ARMORY 83680" on the left side. Rifle is in good overall condition, metal having worn to gray, with scattered spots of light oxidation and patina. Stock is marked with a boxed "JSA/1897" on the left side and has a circled "P" proof behind the trigger guard. Stock was cut and the forend is joined underneath the rear band using two nails. Stock shows use throughout, heavier in front of the trigger guard. Action works properly. Bore is lightly frosted with good rifling. Est.: $500-$700. (Antique)
