U.S. Springfield Armory Model 1898 Krag Bolt Action Rifle, #289306, .30-40 Krag cal., 30" barrel, blued finish, walnut stock, missing the front sight blade, with a M1902 adjustable "U"-notched rear sight. Receiver is marked "U.S./MODEL 1898 SPRINGFIELD ARMORY 289306" on the left side. Rifle is in good overall condition. Metal with a mottled appearance consisting of toning blue and moderate patina, with a few scattered spots of light rust. Stock is marked with a boxed "JSA/1900" on the left side, and a circled "P" behind the trigger guard. Forend of the stock is joined under the barrel band and is modified from another rifle, and shows more wear than the rear portion. Remainder of the stock is very good, with light handling marks and scratches. Rear of the handguard was repaired with plastic wood and has several dents and scratches. Action works properly. Bore is good bore with light pitting and clear rifling. Est.: $500-$800. (C&R)
