Custom U.S. Springfield Armory 1922 M1 Bolt Action Target Rifle, #20141B, .22 LR cal., 26.5" "Eric Johnson" heavy barrel, blue finish. Smooth walnut heavy target stock with 2" wide beavertail forend, accessory rail has been removed, pieced-in custom rollover comb, and ends with a solid rubber recoil pad, providing a 13.5" LOP. Rifle features sight blocks at the muzzle, mid-point, and front ring. There is an aperture sight base at the right rear of the receiver. Includes one 5-round blue steel magazine marked "M2". Modified chrome bolt marked "N.S. M2" at the top of the handle. Trigger with an added shoe and extra screw at the rear of the trigger guard. Factory markings are clear, stamped "ERIC JOHNSON" on the barrel at the breech. Rifle is in fine overall condition, retaining approx. 85%-90% thinning finish. Barrel and receiver with scattered scuffs and scratches. Stock is in near fine condition with scattered indentations, scratches, and small marks. Stock shows attractive fiddleback figure with a custom comb. Action operates smoothly. Bore is fine with well-defined rifling. Eric Johnson was a noted barrel maker/gunsmith in the 1940-50s, known for his "5 Star 8 Groove" barrels. Est.: $500-$750. (C&R)
