WWII Japanese 8cm High-Angle Telescope by NIKKO, 10 x 80mm 6 Type 5 telescope, made in 1941, #15 with matching numbered case. Made by Nippon Kogaku Kogyo Kabushikigaisha, or NIKKO (Japan Optical) which became Nikon. scope appears little used, with the exterior finish showing only light handling wear the winged rubber eyepieces clean and flexible, with inspection stamps still present. The view through the scope is very good, slightly hazy. Plain crosshair reticle. Eyepiece rotates for left or right eye use. Diopter stiffly adjustable from -4 to +2. Affixed inside the cover are "Handling Precautions for Eyepiece Rubber" (right side) and "Storage Parts List" (left). Brass lens cover is numbered "15" inside. Present are two spare rubber eyepieces, one still wrapped, the amber and green ocular lens filters, six replacement lamps, "Drying Hole Stopper" screwdriver, dust brush, and two (2) keys for the case. The 21" x 14" x 6-1/2" wood case shows much wear outside and remains very good inside, with some wear to the green felt that supports the piece. Scope is 18-1/4" long and weighs 26 lb.
