Remington-Elliot "Zig-Zag" Six-Shot Derringer, #731, .22 RF short cal., 3.25" barrel group, gray patina, two-piece walnut grips, with small bead front sight between each barrel, and notched rear sight. Left side of the frame is marked "ELLIOTS PATENTS/AUG. 17, 1858/MAY. 29, 1860". Right side is marked "MANUFACTURED BY/REMINGTONS/ILION, N.Y.". Mfgd circa 1861-1862, with fewer than 1,000 produced. Overall condition is very good, having worn to mostly gray, mixed with traces of blue finish in between the barrels, and moderate darkening/patina. Grips with expected light marks from age and use, no significant blemishes, showing considerable remaining oil finish. Factory lettering is clear. Action is crisp. Bores are good, with visible rifling, and light scattered erosion. Hard to find in any condition, this is a nice example. Est.: $1,800-$2,400. (Antique) (Michael Strietbeck Collection)
