Modified Remington Model 1871 Rolling Block Pistol, #4935, .44 S&W cal., 10" part round/part octagon barrel, blue and color case hardened finish, walnut grip and forend, flip-up Beechs type front sight, rear sight with one fixed and two folding leafs. Marked on top of the barrel "REMINGTON ARMS CO. ILION, N.Y. U.S.A.". Left side of the frame is marked in two-lines with makers information, "April 17th 1866" last patent date, and "P S". Underside of the barrel is marked "44 S&W" and numbered "3303". "WK" marked on upper right side of the frame. Matching assembly numbers "5378" located on left side of the grip straps. Matching serial number on left side of upper grip frame and inside the grip. Overall condition is good, retaining approx. 40%-45% blue, with scattered erosion, primarily on the round portion of the barrel. Frame has worn to silver with scattered spots of patina and oxidation. Factory lettering is clear. Grip and forend with general dents and spots of oil darkening. Action is crisp, but the breechblock fits a little loosely. Bore with scattered spots of mild erosion, rifling is clearly defined and rates good overall. Est.: $700-$900. (Antique) (Michael Strietbeck Collection)
