Lot 477 Wurfflein / Phila Curry S.F.

Wurfflein made for Chas Curry San Francisco. Heavy barrel, 1/2 stock plains rifle. Double set triggers, octagon barrel measuring 30 1/2" and approximately 48-52 caliber rifled. Also 1 1/16 across the center of muzzle about 46" overall with high quality stuck that has been professionally refinished. Large buckhorn rear sight in correct positions. Works well. Metal surfaces show a dark patina with minor pitting and erosion. Well marked, from the Larry Shelton Estate collection noted expert, author and collector. Born in Ireland and operating in Philadelphia from 1837 to 1852, Charles Curry sold arms in San Francisco from 1852 until his death in 1863.
