Cal. 58. NSN. Bbl. 40" round w/ rifled bore. Fixed front sight with a folding leaf rear sight. "1861" dated Springfield lock. 3-band walnut stock with iron fittings. Tulip tipped iron ramrod. Total of 265,129 mfg. 1861-1862. CONDITION: metal has largely faded to mottled brown showing spotted surface corrosion and light pitting. Stock has age darkened worn appearance with numerous scratches, marks, and dents. Lock will not hold in cocked position. Lightly pitted bore retains sound rifling. (01-27211/DS). ANTIQUE. $300-500.
