African, Democratic Republic of the Congo. Songye or Songe peoples ritual figure 20th century. Carved in light wood with a light curve and double sided with a strand of beads the neck of each. Animal horn to the skull on the top figure. Size 16 3/4" H. Provenance: Family collection of an esteemed diplomat and ambassador amassed during travel and work circa 1960-1990s in the medical field providing charitable advanced medical care throughout the African continent and internationally.
