Lot 137 German Gothic / Maximilian Fluted Couter, Ex-Higgins Museum
European, German Maximilian or Gothic transitional style Couter or elbow defense, probably circa 19th century. Painted to the interior with inventory numbers (1122). Pierced to the widened portion with two holes for the tie of leather straps used to affix. Fluted to the exterior, hand hammered, and with a light rolled edge. Size 6 1/4" L x 5 1/2" W. Condition: Oxidization, layer of patina overall.. Provenance: Ex-Southern California Arms and Armour Collection, Ex-John Woodman Higgins Armory Museum
