Lot 678 RARE Custom 1956 Browning Belgium SA-22 .22 SHORT Semi-Auto Rifle Engraved & Signed by M. Bodson
This beautiful SA-22 is a first year manufacture in 1956, in Belgium for Browning. Chambered in the RARE 22 Short caliber, Grade III and custom engraved checks all the boxes for any Browning collector! Features a 19-1/4" blued barrel with rear flip-up adjustable notch sight and blade front sight. Coin finished receiver features 95% engraved coverage. Left side features a gold embossed eagle capturing a groundhog on a hillside scene surrounded by a floral scroll design. Bottom right corner is signed "M.BODSON" by master engraver Mario Bodson. Top of the receiver features a gold embossed retriever with a duck in its mouth in an oval surrounded by floral scroll engraving. Right side features a gold embossed fox and dove in a woodland scene, surrounded with floral scroll engraving. Trigger guard is also engraved with a floral scroll design. Gold washed trigger and crossbolt safety. Grade III nicely figured feather crotch walnut stock and forearm, with basketweave checkered pistol grip and forearm. Fitted with a factory steel butt plate. Comes in a Browning take-down case with factory manual. CALIBER: 22 SHORT. S/N: 1306. FFL STATUS: Curio & Relic.
CONDITION
Retains 97%+ finish showing only a small spot on the left side of the barrel below the rear sight. Stock shows very faint handling marks and a few tiny dings in the checkering. Small blemish on the heel of the butt plate. Excellent bore, likely unfired therefore has not been assembled. Case is in great condition.
