Lot 162 Springfield Fencing Rifle 45-70 NVSN

Very rare cut-down, and stripped Springfield 45-70 trapdoor rifle. Hammer, sights, breech block latch, sling swivels removed, model data scrubbed, partial serial number visible. Missing top tang screw. These surplus rifles were mounted with the M1912 training/fencing bayonet prior to WW1, and used throughout the war. Referred to as both a 1906, or 1912 model bayonet, intended for use on a fencing musket for bayonet fighting instruction. This example is marked R.I.A. and dated 1913, with the inspector's initials of H.E.K. Measures 19 inches overall, with a 16 inch leather covered, flexible blade and padded end. The leather is scuffed, and lower seam is separated. Hard to find in any condition. Missing the top screw. Antique Firearm.
