.54 perc Serial # NSN Manufactured in Middleton Con By Henry Aston the Model 1842 was the last single shot martial pistol adopted by the United States. 8 1/2" round barrel with a 54 cal, smooth bore. Percussion ignition and swiveled ram rod. One piece walnut stock with brass mounts and furniture. 2 very strong US inspectors cartouches on left side. with both lock and barrel dated 1851. Very good overall with no material losses on stock and no cracks. Barrel and lock remain bright with areas of period oxidation. The brass mounting remain uncleaned and have a pleasant mustard patina.
