American style Bowie knife, circa 1830's-1840's. Features a 9 7/8" blade, 15 3/8" overall w/ brass mounts, studded bone grips, slight traces of gilt on mountings. Thick ricasso with dark patina, light to moderate pitting and erosion on blade. Possible blood stains on grips and nicks on blade from use. Rectangular pommel with brass guard and ball finials.
