CONVERSION SRC. CAL. 50-70. S# 74134. After the Civil War the US Gov't contracted the Sharps Rifle Mfg Co to convert the military percussion arms to metallic cartridge breechloaders. This example was converted with a cam style firing pin and lined 3 groove 22" bbl. Fitted with a walnut stock set without patchbox. CONDITION: Metal surfaces have faded to an even dark patina . Period replacement stock has heavy handling marks with some heavier dings. Dark frosted bore with pitting. Crisp mechanics. PROVENANCE: From the Lifelong Collection of Glen E. Mattox.
