Lot 3369 18th CENTURY AMERICAN SHORT SABER.
This short saber was discovered in Pennsylvania and obviously shows Germanic influence in its construction. Overall length: 28 3/8". Blade length: 23 1/4". Plain blade. Iron hilt with a stylized 4-slot counterguard. Plain knuckle bow with scalloped edges. Integral pommel & backstrap with pointed flat pommel cap & diamond tang nut. Iron wire-wrapped leather grip. No scabbard. CONDITION: blade has a light gray, cleaned finish, as does the hilt. Grip retains 95% of the original leather. Wire is complete but a bit loose. (02-20033/BF). $500-800.
