Lot 4530 2 PAINTINGS OF COLT PERCUSSION REVOLVERS.
1) 17" X 10.5" Oil painting of Colt Root revolver in display case. Painting shows case having powder flask, bullet mold, turnscrew, cap tin & lead bullets. 23" x 16.5" jointed frame. Back of frame has dark oil tag "Purchased in Philadelphia back in the 1940's... Trompe I,oeil oil painting of a gun box ... believed to be by John Peto or William Barnett. CONDITION: frame & painting appear to be in good condition w/ moderate marks & deep gouge to bottom right exterior edge of frame.
2) Unsigned17.5" x 12.5" painting of what appears to be a Colt 1849 Pocket revolver nickel plate & engraved. Revolver is in compartmentalized case containing flask, mold, nipple wrench, cap tin, balls & bullets. 23.5" x 18.5" joint attached frame. CONDITION: frame & painting appear in good overall condition w/ wear & marks commensurate w/ age. Paint appears to have shrunk with age & has a few notable gouges. (02-17904/MD). $100-200
