Lot 3437 PERCUSSION CONVERSION OF TYPE III 1795 SPRINGFIELD

MUSKET. Cal. 69. NSN. Most percussion conversions in fine condition have been reconverted back to flint. This must have surfaced in more recent years. Very nice survivor with 44 1/8” barrel with “US” & “P / V” proofs. Lock dated 1810 with especially well struck eagle & script “US” & “SPRINGFIELD” in arc. Buttplate dated “1811”, crisp original inspection marks in stock. Drum conversion with engraved hammer & engraved front of lock makes for nice aesthetic. CONDITION: very good overall, all original with exceptions of replaced sling swivels & reproduction ramrod. Mechanics fine, clear dark smooth bore. (01-22759/JS). ANTIQUE. $1,200-1,500.
