Civil War Era powder flask. Flask is Marked on top w/ "G & J W HAWKSLEY". Flask has brass head w/ fluted copper body & adjustable powder measure; graduated in both grains & drams. Grams extend to 4 3/4 max. Grains extend to 110. Measure terminates in tapered spout. Measure portion is marked "G. & J.W. HAWKSLEY PATENT". CONDITION: body of flask has cleaned patina w/ light wear, staining & scattered sm. dents w/ 1 notable dent along the seam. Brass flask head & measure have partially cleaned dark patina w/ areas of oxidation. Springs are intact & measure appears to function correctly. (02-19526/RW). $350-550.
