^Lot 3151 FINE LINGARD “CELEBRATED BOWIE KNIFE” CLIP

POINT BOWIE KNIFE. EX NORM FLAYDERMAN COLLECTION. 13” overall, 8” blade with 4” clip, finely etched over most of surface with two mottos: “WE ASK FOR NOTHING BUT WHAT IS RIGHT AND SUBMIT TO NOTHING THAT IS WRONG” & “DRAW ME NOT IN HASTE”, stamped on ricasso “LINGARD’S / CELEBRATED BOWIE KNIFE / PEA CROFT / SHEFFIELD. 3” solid German silver crossguard, reinforced die struck solder filled decorated pommel mounts. Original gold embossed red leather veneered sheath with German silver mounts. Ex- Norm Flayderman collection, pictured on Page 149 of his 2004 text “The Bowie Knife”. CONDITION: fine overall, blade retains most of its original polish and lustre with areas of staining and pitting affecting only a couple letters in first motto.
