Clear, distinctive Mauser banner in front of hinge base having strap staple. Main portion of stock is slightly figured walnut; cover is lighter colored w/ plain grain & assembled from 2 pieces having faint joining line running top to bottom. Attaching iron is not numbered & noticeably recessed at top tang. Stock has 2 cracks; going through bottom of banner to hinge base (about 3") & top left corner of banner forward (about 1 1/4").
