Lot 1290 WWI GERMAN MARINE INFANTRY OFFICER’S CAP.
This rare cap has a fine blue wool crown piped in white. The band is equally fine white wool with a central national cockade on the front. Black leather chinstrap terminated by two gold Imperial Navy buttons. Black visor with a cream-colored underside. Tan sweatband with cream colored lining. The lining is impressed with a partially legible maker’s mark & logo, which appears to read at the base “H.LENZNER Bismarckstr. 15”. CONDITION: hat shows virtually no moth damage. White crown is a bit dirty. Visor has a few heat lines. Bullion is lightly tarnished. Interior shows light wear. PROVENANCE: From the Lifelong Collection of Glen E. Mattox.
