^Lot 881 WELLS FARGO MARKED COLT POLICE POSITIVE REVOLVER

SERIAL 125732. BARREL 3 1/4". CALIBER 32 POLICE. MADE IN 1915. Gun is a flat top target with rear sight and the barrel has been period shortened with front sight added. Top of frame and butt are both stamped "W.F.& Co 253". Balance of gun is standard blue with gutta percha grips. Condition. Smooth homogenous blue mixing brown patina with crisp edges. Indexes fine. Bore is fine. During World War I, the U.S. government nationalized the company’s shipping routes and combined them with the railroads into the American Railway Express, effectively putting an end to Wells, Fargo and Co. as a transportation and delivery business.
