SERIAL NUMBER 48771 BARREL 28" CALIBER 45-70 GOV'T MANUFACTURED CIRCA 1880. Custom produced from an antique Model 1873 Trapdoor Springfield action with the addition of a St Louis Hawken pattern 1/2 stock with iron furniture and double set triggers.. Octagon barrel measures 1" across the flats and has German silver blade front sight with tunable sporting rear sight. Rifle is a recreation of the Gemmer offered trapdoor rifles that were sold and used in the Rocky Mountain region of the 1880's. CONDITION. Superb with an excellent bright bore and a tightly locking action. Double set triggers operate correctly. Stock is very good with a few minor impressions. ANTIQUE
