Lot 120 SPRINGFIELD MODEL 1896 KRAG CARBINE

SERIAL NUMBER: 72417. BARREL: 22". CALIBER: .30-40 KRAG. MANUFACTURED: 1897. Used heavily in the Spanish American war, especially by cavalry in the Cuba campaign. Correct bar and saddle ring. There is a boxed "JLA/1897" cartouche on the left side of the stock. Circled "P" firing proof on the wrist. Pedestal blade front sight and 1896 pattern rifle sight with an added "C" on the ladder, being graduated to 1800 yards. Original blued finish and oiled wood stock. Smooth metal butt plate, with an original three piece cleaning rod and oiler inside. CONDITION: Metal is good overall, with light wear and some discoloration. Wood has a few dings, scratches and dents. Repaired crack on the hand guard. Bore is frosted. Strong rifling retained overall, but is more worn at the muzzle. ANTIQUE
