Sporterized U.S. military infantry rifle. Manufactured 1898. Barrel has been shortened to 24", a Redfield ramped globe sight added, with a Redfield adjustable peep sight has been mounted to the left receiver. A piece of wood has been inletted into the handguard where the rear sight was. Action is crisp/tight. Bore is very good, needs cleaning, wood is very good. Blue is about 50% with handling/edge wear, finish loss to the side mounted magazine. Military markings present, left wrist has a 1898 dated cartouche. Great deer Rifle.
