similar to 1872 US designed by George Custer except strait blade. Sword measures 40.5" overall with 35" blade. No foreign marks and has a distinct American appearance. Good to very good condition overall with dark patina and no cleaning in as found condition. Good wire wrap over leather grip like 1860 model. The guard is plain with no eagle or star. Should be further researched.
