TEXAN SOLDIER IN HOMESPUN UNIFORM W/ PISTOL & BOWIE. Images rarely have better contrast & crispness where most every hair in beard & stitch in uniform can be seen. This rugged enlisted soldier holds a Colt Navy Revolver and an ivory slab grip bowie attached to his belt. This image is accompanied by a cabinet card of the same man postwar with Texas photographer S. B. Russell back mark. A research file accompanies possibly identifying image as from Baird Family of Grimes County, Texas. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: research file as noted above. CONDITION: fine overall; scratched areas of emulsion on periphery on bottom half unaffected image, accompanying casing & mats are equally fine, case has repaired hinged.
