^Lot 3731 2 BRITISH NAVAL CUTLASSES.

1) M1804. Overall length: 34". Blade length: 29". Plain flat unmarked blade. Black painted sheet iron figure 8 style guard w/ black painted iron ribbed grip. Leather scabbard w/ brass tip. CONDITION: blade has been heavily cleaned but is undamaged. Hilt shows minor dents & dings from years of use. Grip is undamaged. Leather scabbard shows flexing & flaking throughout but remains generally solid. Frog stud missing. Tip has a heavy patina. (02-13366/BF). 2) M1804/45. Overall length: 32 1/2". Blade length: 27". Plain flat unmarked blade w/ a classic figure 8 style M1804 iron guard. The iron grip is from an M1845 style cutlass. Likely a shipboard repair of an older cutlass utilizing available parts. Both guard & grip have a black japanned finish. No scabbard. CONDITION: blade has a dark patina w/ scattered areas of light pitting & numerous nicks to the blade. Both guard & grip have approx. 40% original black japanned finish remaining. (02-13369/BF). $600-900.
