^Lot 3589 1862 DATED COLT SPECIAL CONTRACT CIVIL WAR MUSKET.

Cal. 58. NSN. Bbl. 40", standard configuration. Typically these contracts were flat banded, so this "1862" lock apparently reused in later musket. Regardless, everything fits well. CONDITION: lock has been cleaned w/ good markings & pitting. The remainder of iron has dark unmolested patina w/ pitting, matching lock & hammer at breech. Stock is sound, well fit w/ 2 discernable inspector's cartouches. Mechanically fine w/ bored out smooth bbl., pitted & measuring approx 0.60 cal. PROVENANCE: Estate Collection of Dan Poppen.
