Cal. 45-70. S# 13765. Bbl. 22" w/ blade front sight & graduated leaf rear sight. Case colored high arch 1873 dated breech block. Replacement long comb stock w/ saddle ring & bar. Left side has clear "RGS" cartouche & partially visible unit markings on butt that appears to read "ML / 33". Pre 1876 carbine considered typical of the type used by Custer's 7th Cavalry. CONDITION: metal finish has faded to gray w/ traces of case color in protected areas of breech block. Stock has lightly worn finish showing scattered dents & handling marks w/ gouge along bbl. channel left of rear sight. Bore retains strong rifling showing some very light pitting. (01-17169/DS).
