Reproduction U.S. Springfield Model 1861 Civil War Percussion Infantry Rifle-Musket, with leather sling, tompion and nipple protector, NVSN, .58 cal., 40'' barrel, with block-blade front sight (doubles as a bayonet lug) and 2-leaf rear sight marked ''AC 2010'' and ''1861'' at breech; flat beveled lockplate is marked ''(spread-wing eagle)'' to left of ''U.S./Springfield'' under nipple bolster having a clean-out screw, and ''1861'' to rear; iron furniture including three spring-retained barrel bands (middle with sling swivel), two-piece triggerguard with sling swivel at front, curved rifle buttplate marked ''U.S.'' below top tang screw, and tulip-head ramrod; varnished hardwood fullstock. Condition is excellent. Metal surfaces show ''arsenal-bright'' finish with sharp edges and markings; fullstock being solid with a few dings, minor handling marks, and nice color and grain. Action is smooth and strong; bore is brilliant with sharp rifling. Leather sling, chain-retained leather nipple protector and wooden tompion (bore plug) are very good. Est.: $250-$450.
