Stevens Model 70 ''Visible Loader'' Pump Action Rifle, #R197, .22 RF cal., blued 22'' barrel, with dovetailed German silver blade front and buckhorn rear sights marked with the maker's name, address, model and patent date on top; blued tubular half-magazine; blued solid receiver with integral triggerguard is marked ''R297'' on lower tang; varnished grooved sliding walnut forearm, and buttstock with grooved hard rubber buttplate. Condition is very good as refinished. Barrel retains approx. 98% deep blue with (apparently) hand-stamped markings; receiver with all of a smooth plum-blue finish. Stock is smooth and sound showing most varnish, minor handling marks, and pleasing grain and color. Action is smooth; bore is brilliant with defined rifling. Est.: $200-$400. (C&R)
