Antique Colt Model 1849 Percussion Pocket Revolver, #126708, .31 cal., 5'' octagonal barrel, with brass pin front (and hammer-notch rear) sights marked with the two-line Colt name and address; 5-shot round cylinder with the rolled ''stagecoach hold-up'' scene; frame is marked ''Colts/Patent'' on left side, and ''O'' under serial number; brass gripstraps have a ''V'' on left bolster of the small rounded triggerguard; varnished one-piece walnut grips. Mfg'd 1856. Condition is good+. Steel parts retain no original finish, having been cleaned to ''bright'' over scattered moderate pitting, cylinder with no scene remaining and dings over its circumference; brass gripstraps with a cleaned patina. Grips smooth, likely having been sanded, and fit fractionally small. Markings are generally clear; wedge screw is a replacement; all serial numbers match including lever, wedge, and cylinder arbor. Action is smooth; bore shows light etching with distinct rifling. Est.: $350-$500. (Antique)
