Lot 754 Winchester Model 55 Lever Action Rifle

Winchester Model 55 Lever Action Rifle, #1079729, .30 WCF (.30-30) cal., blued 24'' round barrel, with high bead-blade front and dovetailed buckhorn rear sights, marked with maker's name and address at right breech, and ''Model 55/Winchester Trade Mark/Nickel Steel - 30 W.C.F.'' at left; blued tubular button magazine; receiver (fitted with a Redfield multi-adjustable peep sight) is marked ''Winchester/Trade Mark/Made In U.S.A.'' on upper tang, and ser. no. at lower front; loop operating lever; oil-finished walnut forearm, with blued steel nose cap, matching buttstock with checkered steel shotgun buttplate. Mfg'd 1930. Condition is very good. Barrel retains approx. 80% original blue; receiver is bright metal with traces of finish; lever and buttplate are dark gunmetal gray. Stocks are sound with minor marks from age and use, and a thin later coat of varnish. Edges and markings are sharp. Action is strong and smooth; bore is bright with sharp rifling. Oddly enough, the Model 55 without the takedown feature such as this one, is scarcer. Est.: $600-$850. (C&R)
