Civil War Colt Model 1862 Police Percussion Revolver, #4892, .36 cal., 4.5'' ''streamlined'' barrel, with brass pin front (and hammer-notch rear) sights with one-line Colt name and address; 5-shot fluted and rebated cylinder; steel frame is unmarked but for serial number; brass gripstraps are marked ''36 Cal'' on left triggerguard bolster; varnished one-piece walnut grips. Mfg'd 1861. Condition is good+. Steel parts retain no original finish, having been cleaned to ''bright'' over moderate-to-heavy pitting; brass gripstraps with a cleaned patina. Grips are smooth showing light wear, 75% original varnish, two small notches at right toe, and fit well. Barrel address is partly readable, ''Colts Patent'' marking on left frame is gone; visible serial numbers match. Action is smooth; bore is clean with distinct rifling. Est.: $400-$650. (Antique)
