Antique Winchester Model 1892 Lever Action Rifle, #6413, .38 WCF (.38-40) cal., blued 24'' octagonal barrel, with dovetailed blade front and adjustable buckhorn rear sights, marked with maker's name and address on top flat, and ''38 W.C.F.'' at breech; blued tubular magazine; blued receiver is marked ''Model 1892/Winchester/Pat. Oct. 14, 1884'' on upper tang, and serial number at lower front; case hardened loop operating lever and hammer; oil-stained walnut stocks, forend with steel nose cap, buttstock with a steel crescent buttplate. Mfg'd 1892: first year of mfg. Condition is very good. Barrel, mag tube, nose cap and buttplate show traces of original blue mixing with a dark-blue tone that was likely added later; receiver is a cleaned gunmetal gray. Stocks are solid and smooth with only minimal handling marks. Action is smooth; bore is clean with overall etching and pronounced rifling. This '92 is quite desirable with its scarce octagonal barrel. Est.: $700-$1,200. (Antique)
