Antique Winchester Model 1892 Lever Action Rifle, #66088, .44 WCF (.44-40) cal., blued 24'' octagonal barrel, with dovetailed blade front and adjustable buckhorn rear sights, marked with maker's name and address on top flat, and ''44 W.C.F.'' at breech; blued tubular magazine; receiver is marked ''Model 1892/Winchester/Pat. Oct. 14, 1884'' on upper tang, and serial number at lower front; case hardened loop operating lever and hammer; oil-stained walnut stocks, forend with steel nose cap, buttstock with steel crescent buttplate. Mfg'd 1894. Condition is fine. Barrel and mag tube retain approx. 45% thinning original blue, mixing with brown; receiver is gunmetal gray; nose cap and buttplate bright metal. Stocks are solid and smooth, with perhaps an added coat of linseed oil or varnish, and lovely grain and color. Action is strong; bore is bright with deep rifling. This '92 is especially desirable with its octagonal barrel and largest-offered .44-40 caliber. Est.: $800-$1,400. (Antique)
