Excellent Custom Francotte Boxlock Single Shot Mountain Rifle, with Case, #21797, chambered in .30-06 caliber. The 24.25'' barrel with blued finish, solid rib that is marked ''FRANCOTTE ARMS-LIEGE CAL. 30-06''; raised rear quarter rib is drilled and tapped for a scope mount, with a fire blued V-notched sight dovetailed into the front section; brass beaded blade front sight also on a raised base that is integral with the rib. Coin finished boxlock receiver with scroll and border engraving on the sides, top, trigger guard, and lever; underside also with scroll work and a finely engraved pronghorn antelope. The oil finished pistol-grip walnut stock is checkered at the wrist with tapered slim forend; buttstock with straight comb, cheekpiece, red rubber Pachmayr Old English recoil pad with black spacer, LOP is 14.5''; forend latch and screws are also engraved. This rifle features double set triggers, manual safety, and extractor; overall length is approx. 41.5''. In a canvas and leather Francotte takedown case with green interior, gold colored hardware, and two (2) keys. Condition is excellent retaining approx. 99%+ original blue finish, with clear nicely executed engraving. Wood is also excellent, checkering is clean and shows no visible wear. The right lower edge of the forend with a spot of mild thinning from handling and otherwise there are not mentionable handling marks, etc. Buttstock comb with some light cheek wear that detracts very little; as well as a few small impressions at the toe. Smooth action, double set triggers function properly; bright bore with strong defined rifling. Case exterior shows moderate storage type wear and an approx. 1'' tear to the bottom fabric; interior also shows moderate age and wear with a few small holes in the fabric.
