Stevens Ideal ''Range Model'' No. 45 Single Shot Sporting Rifle, #13915, .25 RF cal., blued 24'' part-round part-octagonal barrel with folding Globe front and no rear sight, marked with maker's name, address and 1904 patent date on top flat, and ''25 R.F.'' at breech; case hardened receiver with an adjustable peep tang sight, and serpentine operating lever that opens the dropping-block action with automatic extraction; varnished walnut forestock with semi-Schnabel nose, and matching buttstock having a highly-detailed checkered hard rubber buttplate with deep relief stag bust surrounded by fancy borders and ''Stevens/Chicopee Falls/Mass. U.S.A.'' in three ribbons. Mfg'd ca. 1896-1916. Condition is excellent. Barrel retains approx. 95% original blue (having very light roughness at muzzle), receiver and lever with brilliant case colors (receiver has had a coat of varnish added to enhance the patterns/colors). Stocks are sound and smooth (but for a half-inch shallow scrape on right forearm), with the usual use and handling marks and nice grain and color; fancy buttplate is excellent. Action is smooth and sure; bore is brilliant with deep rifling. Est.: $600-$900. (C&R)
